Enrollment and Attendance

  • Students are enrolled for lessons from mid-August through May.  A weekly time slot is reserved for each student and regular attendance is mandatory.  Please refer to my calendar for breaks and no lesson days.

  • Each student receives 4 makeup credits for absences due to sickness or personal reasons.  Notification of absence must be given at least 48 hours in advance (4 hours in case of sickness) in order to qualify for a makeup or refund.  Students maintain monthly tuition regardless of absence or rescheduling.

  • If I’m unable to teach a lesson, the student receives a makeup or credit/refund.

  • Please text or call if a student anticipates to be more than 10 minutes late.  Lesson is forfeited after 15 minutes in case of no show/no call.  No makeups are scheduled for last minute cancellations.

Sick Policy

  • Students should stay home and rest if he/she exhibits symptoms of illness - fever, vomiting, pink eye, coughing, severe runny nose, etc., or have shown such signs within 24 hours prior to lesson. A mild and lingering cough without other obvious cold symptoms is fine.

  • A missed lesson due to sickness can be rescheduled when I receive notification.

  • If a makeup is not feasible due to scheduling conflict, the student receives a refund.

Tuition

  • I charge a monthly flat rate for lessons received from August through May. Tuition is due by the first lesson of the month.

Practice

  • It is important to maintain daily practice ranging from 25-30 minutes for beginners, 40-50 minutes for intermediate level, and 60 minutes for advanced students.

  • For students of all ages, parental encouragement and support are essential to ensure improvement and steady progress.  For beginners and young children (4 to 7), parents must actively monitor students’ practice. Please ask for strategies and tips on reinforcing good habits at home.

Recital

  • Student recital is held in the spring.  I will inform students of additional performance opportunities throughout year.

Summer

  • Summer break ranges between four to six weeks.  My availability and summer teaching schedule are published in May.  Lessons are optional but strongly encouraged.  Summer lessons are flexible to accommodate traveling and shifting schedules; therefore students are billed on a per lesson basis.

Withdrawal

  • Notification of withdrawal must be provided at least two weeks in advance.

  • If the student wishes to withdraw before the end of the month, he/she forfeits any remaining lessons.

Communication

  • Students must bring a notebook for me to record feedback and new assignment.  This is a way to keep track, to address specific problems, and for parents to monitor progress.

  • Email is the best way to communicate if a parent or student has any questions.
